Envelope and Paper Stock specifications are an important part of AutoMail® and its ability to properly calculate weight, height, width, and thickness of the mailpiece, and therefore, to calculate postage for the overall mailing.

QuickTip

NOTE: Envelope and Paper Stock specifications should be revisited periodically so as to ensure proper weight, height, width, and thickness calculation. See Mailpiece Specs.

How do I determine weight, height, width, and thickness of my paper products?

1.Count 100 pieces of each paper item that constitutes the mailpiece (envelope and each different stock paper type used).
2.Weigh those 100 pieces using a calibrated scale (your meter machine scale is the most obvious trusted device).
3.With a standard ruler, measure the general "thickness" of each item.
oDo not mash the stack in any way. Simply measure, as-is, in the middle of the stack.
